I’m excited to announce that I’ve officially pushed Actolio into beta. Actolio is a system that empowers actors to easily create their own, professionally designed acting portfolio website.

Under the hood – The Bird’s-Eye View

The site is built using WordPress Multisite along with several key plugins from WPMU and Gravity Forms. In addition, the main site and acting template are all built using the Genesis Framework and custom child themes. Custom options for the themes managed by the Options Framework

Completely Custom Admin Experience

The majority of development was done to create a completely targeted admin experience for users. The system is built with a single intention, to provide actors with the easiest and most powerful solution for creating their website. This being the case, I got to have a lot of fun living out the WordPress sentiment of making decisions not options.

Here is a quick peek at the custom Actolio Dashboard.

The Learning Begins

I’m most excited about what this means as far as my potential to learn and grow personally. With this launch, i’m diving head first into a world of product development and marketing that I’ve never had the opportunity to fully focus on before.

Social media, writing quality sales copy, inbound marketing, advertising, managed support, cold calling, optimizing documentation, UX and UI testing and optimization, etc.

Let the learning begin!

Josh, this looks really solid! A friend and I had an idea similar to this one a while ago – great to see something in the flesh. Nice work 🙂

      Thanks Alex!

I’ve played around with different ideas in the past for weddings and family blogs and learned a lot about the technical side of pulling all of the pieces together. I’m hoping I can turn this one into a solid and profitable side project over the course of the next year.

If you ever decide to push forward with something like it I would love to see it!
